Vicodin Precaution

General Precautions:

Special Risk Patients: With the narcotic analgesic agent, vicodin must be used with care in elderly or harmed patients and to those with the severe injury of renal function or hepatic, hypothyroidism, prostatic hypertrophy, Addison's disease, or the urethral stricture. General precaution must be observed and also respiratory depression keeps in mind.

Cough Reflex: Cough reflex is suppressed by hydrocodone with narcotics, care must be exercised when the vicodin pills are used postoperatively and in the patients with the pulmonary syndrome.

Laboratory Tests: If the patients are suffering from harsh hepatic or the renal disease then effect of this therapy must be checked with the serial liver and test of renal function.

Carcinogenesis, Mutagenesis, Impairment of Fertility: No any studies have been conducted in the animals for determining whether acetaminophen or hydrocodone have potentially for potential for the carcinogenesis, impairment, or mutagenesis of fertility.

Precautions during Pregnancy:

Teratogenic Effects: Vicodin pills must be taken at the time of pregnancy when potential benefits give good reason for potential risk.

Nonteratogenic Effects: Opioids prior to the delivery will actually dependant. Withdrawal signs for this include excessive crying and irritability, tremors, increase in respiratory rate, hyperactive reflexes, increased stools, yawning, sneezing, fever and vomiting. Many drugs are excreted in the human milk and due to potential for reaction in infants from acetaminophen and hydrocodone, decision is very confusing whether to continue drug or nursing and taking in to the account significance of drug to mother.

Pediatric Use: Effectiveness and safety in pediatric population haven't recognized.
