Vicodin Drugs

For the oral administration, hydrocodone bitartrate and acetaminophen is provided in tablet form.

Hydrocodone bitartrate is an antitussive and opioid analgesic and appears as white crystals or crystalline powder. It gets affected by the light. The chemical name of vicodin is 4,5a -epoxy-3-methoxy-17-methylmorphinan-6-one tartrate (1:1) hydrate (2:5). The structural formula of it is as shown below:

Acetaminophen, 4'-hydroxyacetanilide, odorless, white, a quite bitter, crystalline powder, is a non-salicylate analgesic, non-opiate, and antipyretic. Structural formula of it is as shown below:

Every Vicodin tablet includes:

  • Acetaminophen 500 mg
  • Hydrocodone Bitartrate 5 mg

With these two contents, other inactive ingredients are starch, colloidal silicon dioxide, dibasic calcium phosphate, croscarmellose sodium, magnesium stearate, povidone, microcrystalline cellulose, and the stearic acid.
