Drug Interactions

Vicodin Oral Interactions:

Patient's doctor or the pharmacist can already be aware of possible interactions of drug and also monitor that. Before checking any drugs, do not start, change or stop the medicines.

This drug must not be used with following medications because it may causes serious interaction:

  • Naltrexone

If already you are taking this medicine then tell to doctor or pharmacist before starting this medicine. All the prescription and nonprescription products whatever you used before must tell to the doctor or pharmacist. The products such as:

  • Other medications for relief of pain
  • Cimetidine
  • Isoniazid
  • MAO inhibitors for example furazolidone, moclobemide, linezolid, phenelzine rasagiline, procarbazine, selegiline, tranylcypromine isocarboxazid, etc
  • Anti-seizure drugs such as carbamazepine, phenytoin, Phenobarbital etc
  • Anticholinergic drugs or antihistamines e.g. oxybutynin, hydroxyzine, scopolamine etc

Also give report of the drugs which causes lethargy such as tranquilizers, medicines for the sleep for example sedatives, anti-anxiety drugs for example diazepam, tricyclics such as amitriptyline, psychiatric medicines, muscle relaxants, antihistamines that cause sleepiness for example diphenhydramine.

Acetaminophen is one ingredient which present in nonprescription products and also in some prescription medicines. Before taking pain relievers, cold products, fever reducers, must check the products to see if they contain acetaminophen or not. Keep all the list of medications with you and then share it with your doctor or pharmacist.
